What Documents Do I Need to Sell My Van?
To make your appointment smooth and hassle-free, our customer service team will guide you on what to expect and what to bring. But here’s a handy checklist so you can prepare in advance:
Vehicle Documents:
V5C (logbook) – must be in your name for at least 3 months
MOT certificate
Service history and handbook, if available
Spare keys, locking wheel nut, radio/sat-nav codes, if you have them
Outstanding finance? You’ll need a settlement letter/email from the finance company
In some cases, proof of purchase and source of funds may be required (for legal compliance)
Personal Documents:
The documents required depend on the valuation amount:
For valuations under £10,000
If we’re visiting you at the registered address, bring:
One form of photo ID
One proof of address
Your driver’s licence can count as both
For valuations over £10,000
At the registered address, bring:
Either: One photo ID + two proofs of address
Or: Two photo IDs + one proof of address
Acceptable Photo ID:
Valid passport
UK or EU photo driver’s licence
Valid firearms/shotgun certificate
Northern Ireland Electoral ID card
Acceptable Proof of Address:
Council tax bill (current year)
Recent utility bill (last 6 months)
Bank/credit card statement (last 3 months)
HMRC tax letter or government-issued pension (last 12 months)
Mortgage statement (current year)
Tenancy agreement or rent schedule (last 12 months)
Student loan letter (current academic year)
Not Accepted:
Vehicle insurance documents
Mobile phone bills
Not the Registered Keeper?
In most cases, you must have been the registered keeper for at least 3 months. If not, please contact our team to discuss your specific situation.
If you’re selling a vehicle on behalf of a deceased person, additional documentation is required. Contact us for guidance.
